You've got big plans, you've got lots on your plate, people depending on you, and you subsequently put yourself further behind than you know you should. But we do it anyway. Why? Because thoughts take over like 'the busy time will hopefully be over soon' or 'I'll be ok. Just one more thing.'
But it doesn't have to be this way, and that's why I used this 'unintended time out' to really reassess and let it be a catalyst for change in my life and way that I had set it up.
So, to remind myself and all of us, of how important it is to balance out a busy lifestyle with lots of self-care and awareness - even in, and especially in! - busy times, I put together a checklist.
This list is for all of us busy bees and it will (hopefully ;) ) keep reminding us of what we need to do EVERY SINGLE day to feel - and keep feeling! - good! ...
Bookings, appointments, to do lists, pressure. Who doesn't have any or all of these in their life? Our lives are complex. Our lives can be overwhelming. I can't count the amounts of clients anymore that I've been seeing over the past few months alone who have been feeling swamped. Overloaded. Under pressure.
Don't get me wrong; I so totally get it!
I've been waking up with a full head too. It's a crazy time and my lists take on the length of small intestines (everyone knows just how long these ones are, right?!). If I'm not careful, my thoughts swamp my being!
I need to consciously hold out my hand and say stop!
And because I know how these easy but powerful tips to simplicity could benefit you too, I'd like to share them with you today..
We are already halfway through the year, but it's not too late to create the most fantastic year yet!
If you are feeling a bit lost, overwhelmed and down on yourself, take the pressure off. Take a step back and b r e a t h e.
Life can be busy and full of to-do-lists, but the only person who can change this for us is us.
And have you been standing in your own way?
Have you been telling yourself that you can't do it - and therefore keep proving to yourself that you truly can't, by constantly setting yourself up for failure?
Or do you feel deep down that you don't deserve it? That you must work hard in order to achieve it and that things don't drop from the sky?
There are all sorts of beliefs that...
Sometimes we find ourselves stuck. We feel agro, overwhelmed, burdened, not right. Angry and frustrated, we helplessly watch ourselves burdened with something we deem we can't escape from. Tiny things can then trigger us into massive reactions.
So, how can we shift from a state of powerlessness and feeling stuck to one of self empowerment instead?
Has it entered your life... again? This numbing feeling of contraction in the stomach. This tightness, tension, pulling in your core?
You feel like you won't ever reach your dreams. They are too big and who are you to believe you could reach them?
You might feel you're not qualified enough.
Not good enough. Not authority enough. You might not feel it's perfect enough. Not yet. So you hold back.
You doubt, you worry, you think. And worse:
You stop.
Self doubt freezes you in your tracks. It cripples. And it eats you.
Why is it, that so many of us experience this limiting feeling?
Did you know that ...
You know those days when you feel swamped, pressured and not up for anything?
And do you usually fight this feeling? Do you push yourself to get the usual done anyway, because you "have to"?
I get it. For many years, this is how I've functioned too and to be honest, the tendency is still there!
However, now I know better. I know that by simply pushing myself, I can't succeed. By fighting this uphill battle, the only result I get is exhaustion.
So I'm sharing my four step inner process to get myself on track again, with the hope that also you can get inspired to chose ease and flow instead of pressure:
Have you ever wondered why certain people always seem to get it all and some are continuously slipping from one bad experience to the next? Is it luck or bad fortune? Maybe a little. Certainly it's got to do a lot with your mindset, as like attracts like. When we think negatively, we keep on attracting the negative.
However, there is way more to it than that.
It's not that I'm saying we consciously create our reality. No, we don't usually decide in the morning: "oh yes, today I want to have a car crash/break up/ xyz experience". No, most definitely not.
We create our reality on either a conscious, but most often a very subconscious level.
Let me explain. It's actually quite simple..
I had a vision during my meditation once. It was a powerful moment, with me walking up a steep staircase. I was being supported and filled with excitement, yet felt it was a big responsibility what I was about to see.
Once on the top, two folding doors opened up and bright light streamed in like clouds (similar to the fog they sometimes spray into a dance club). I hesitated for a moment, as it reminded me of stepping beyond - the light at the end of the tunnel that people describe when death is near.
Then I braved it, braced it, faced it.
What I was was about to see blew my mind and warmed my heart..
Reflexology isn't just a foot massage. Yes, those ones feel amazing and relaxing too, that's true. However, did you know that Reflexology is actually way more?
It's based on the theory that the whole body is represented in a map in miniature in the feet, hands and ears. All body parts and organs of the right half of the body are represented in your right foot and those of your left half of your body are represented in your left foot. By stimulating these reflexes, a message gets sent to the brain that then releases the tension in that particular body part and promotes homeostasis (balance within the body and all its functions).
There are tons of reasons why Reflexology is good for you and most people love having their feet touched, though there are some who hate the thought of that.
Why is that? Is it really just because they might be ticklish?! I believe there is more to it..!
Read on if you'd like to find out what I think this really means..
A client once asked me a very good question: "Why do we need to ground and connect with the earth, when we want to connect with Spirit (which is supposedly up above)?"
I thought it would be worthwhile sharing my reply, as this is what comes up a lot for people. You might not be aware of this, but most people are either way too much in their head or even off with the fairies (or 'worry-train' respectively).
Find out why it is so important for us human beings to connect to the ground and with the earth. Learn about the danger that you unknowingly expose yourself to when you are too much in your head and not in your body. And find out the single one reason how you could make a huge difference in the world!
We want to live a soul-driven and heart-centred life, inside and out. We wanna be there, fully present, fun and light for our kids. We want to be a great partner, with lots of inner space for the other one to feel received and understood. We want to be the full blown go getter achiever at work, in our business, in life. We've got tons of things on the go.
Sometimes, our sense of wellbeing can suffer, as we keep on pushing .. All those expectations create a balance act between the worlds of being busy and of being well. Yes, we need to look after ourselves. We know that, but it's so easy to ignore those needs until they HAVE to be acknowledged. Sometimes this means we get stressed and overwhelmed, other times we even seem to need to get sick until we realise that we are mortal beings!!
So I would like to share 10 top tips how to maintain the fine balance of BUSYness & WELLbeing - so you can avoid overwhelm and sickness and instead contribute your unique Footprint on Planet Earth!
You know those days when you feel like whatever you say gets spun around. You feel entirely misunderstood and confused. People seem to retract, get angry at you or shut down in response to what you're saying. Most likely you feel like you can't say anything 'right' and you assume that it's most likely best to not say anything at all. Can you relate?
Did you know that there is a way to get your point across - without getting angry, sad, feisty, defensive or accusative? A way that gets received, where the other one actually listens and cares?
